Created in conjunction with the landmark exhibition “Ian Wallace: At the Intersection of Painting and Photography,” the talks series Reading Ian Wallace: An International Perspective consists of conversations that provide a rare opportunity for first-hand insight into Wallace’s expansive career.
The second talk in this series features critic and scholar Christine Poggi in conversation with Ian Wallace. Collage has been a recurring strategy in Ian Wallace’s work, and the recent proliferation of collage-based activity in the wider art sphere suggests its significance in contemporary production. In this talk, Poggi will address collage in the wider context of art history and relate it to Wallace’s practice.
